Privacy policy

Last updated: 09/06/2026

This page (the "Where DDMouse lives") is a private site built for our family to share pages, documents, and updates. It is not a commercial service, and this policy is written in plain language rather than formal legal terms — but it still explains honestly what happens with your information.

Who this applies to

Only family members with a Google account on our approved list can sign in and access the private areas of this site. This policy covers everyone who uses the site, including anyone browsing the public pages without signing in.

What information we collect

When you sign in with Google:

  • Your name, email address, and profile picture, as provided by Google during sign-in
  • Nothing else from your Google account — we don't request access to your Gmail, Drive, contacts, or any other Google data

When you use the site:

  • A session cookie (set by Cloudflare Access) that keeps you signed in for a limited time, so you don't have to log in on every visit
  • Any content you create or edit — pages, documents, or messages you write are stored in the site's content repository

We do not collect:

  • Payment information (this site has no payments)
  • Location data
  • Analytics or tracking cookies for advertising purposes

How we use this information

  • To verify you're an approved family member before showing private pages
  • To attribute edits (so we know which family member wrote or changed a page)
  • To keep the site secure — for example, blocking sign-in attempts from anyone not on the family allow-list

We do not sell, rent, or share this information with advertisers, and we do not use it for anything beyond running this family site.

Who else can see this information

A few outside services help run the site, and each has its own access to a limited slice of data:

  • Google — handles the sign-in process itself. Google sees that you're signing into this site, subject to Google's own privacy policy.
  • Cloudflare — provides the hosting, security (Access), and content delivery for the site. Cloudflare processes traffic and session cookies as part of delivering pages.
  • GitHub (if used for storing content) — hosts the Markdown files and edit history for the site's pages.

No other third parties have access to family content or sign-in information.

Content and photos

Pages, documents, and any photos posted to the site are visible to whichever audience the page is set to: fully public, or restricted to signed-in family members via Cloudflare Access. Please only post photos and information you're comfortable sharing with that audience, and check with family members before posting photos that include them, especially children.

Children's information

This site may include photos, names, or stories about children in our family, shared by parents or guardians for family use only. Pages containing children's information are kept in the access-restricted section of the site wherever possible, not the public pages.

Data retention

  • Session cookies expire automatically (typically within 24 hours, or whenever you sign out).
  • Content you create (pages, edits, messages) stays on the site until a family member removes or edits it — there's no automatic deletion schedule.
  • If you'd like your account access removed or specific content taken down, contact the site administrator (see below).

Security

We use Google's sign-in system (rather than storing passwords ourselves) and Cloudflare Access to restrict private pages to approved family members only. No system is perfectly secure, but we don't ask for or store sensitive information like passwords or payment details, which limits what could ever be exposed.

Changes to this policy

If how the site works changes — for example, if we add new features or connect new services — we'll update this page and change the "Last updated" date above.

Questions

If you have questions about your information or want something changed or removed, contact [site administrator name/email].
